Cutting-edge
disinfection solutions
using cold plasma.
The new, revolutionary technology for disinfection of sensitive materials.
Expertise in cold plasma
Founded based on 25 years of research into cold plasma, we are pioneers in the industrialisation of cold plasma for disinfection of sensitive materials. With our patent pending method we are able to adapt and precisely control our core cold plasma technology for applications within different industries, from food and medicinal materials to sensitive electronic devices.
How Plasma Fresh outperforms other technologies
Proven efficacy
Reduces pathogens by 1,000x to 1,000,000x depending on the application, matching or exceeding UV, chemical and radio frequency.
Cost savings
Our technology consumes very low power (up to 90% less than steam), requires no consumables eliminating the need for handling and disposing hazardous chemicals and has short operational cycles.
Operational safety
Disinfecting agents generated on-demand at point of use, thus zero exposure to hazardous consumables such as Ethylene oxide or hydrogen peroxide.
Product quality
It is a dry process at room temperature and pressure. Our exclusive, patent-pending method delivers unparalleled control of the plasma to target pathogens without damages to the treated material.
How it works
Creating lightning in a bottle
Cold plasma is the fourth state of matter and is created by generating and controlling lightning on a small scale. Common atmospheric air is ionised into more than 60 reactive substances such as ozone, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl, which then kill pathogens such as bacteria and moulds on contact with any surface.
Precision cold plasma control
Although cold plasma has been a validated technology for decades, its industrialisation is still emerging, as the systems are inherently difficult to control and stabilise at scale. We solved this problem by developing and patenting a method for the precision control of the plasma.

Backed by deeptech investors
The result of 25 years of research into cold plasma, our researchers Professor James Walsh and Dr. Aaron Dickenson span out Plasma Fresh from the University of Liverpool in September 2023 with investment from the institution.
Since then, we’ve secured three very competitive grants from Innovate UK, not to mention investment from three prestigious venture capital firms based here in the UK, namely Northern Gritstone, Lyva Labs and Deepbridge Capital.
